Another Catholic festival that has been a tradition in the Philippines since time immemorial is the Santacruzan. Also called as the Festival of the Holy Cross, this festival commemorates Saint Helena ’s quest for the Holy Cross of Calvary. Festivities include processions with floats adorned with images of each town’s patron saint and nine-day pageants in which people act out scenes from the Bible. This festival is celebrated during the mid of May every year.

Sunken Cemetery Camiguin
We also visited the sunken cemetery in Camiguin. Due to the eruption of Mount Vulcan , the capital of Camiguin and its cemetery literally sunk under the sea. To spot the place they installed a huge cross made by solidified lava in 1982. We rode a boat just to get to the big cross. At first it was quite scary but you will get a hang of it. You can go up to the viewing deck of the cross by climbing the stairs which of course gives you a great view Camiguin. If you are brave enough you can have your diving at the site of the sunken cemetery and enjoy the coral covered tombstones.

According to the locals it was initially built as a private beach resort for the owner. They provide different amenities for their clients like watercrafts (speedboats), recreational activities and even parasailing.

Ardent Hot Springs
Yup. We visited Ardent Hot Springs in Camiguin. After exploring Camiguin the whole day, we really need to relax. They say that having a dip in a tub of hot water has a therapeutic effect like preventing stiffness and even fatigue. Oh yeah! That’s true. FACT: Hot water increases ones body temperature and causes your blood vessels to dilate thus increases circulation. The greater circulation can speed up the body’s healing processes.

Wordless Wednesday #23
Camiguin Island . This picture was taken after going to White Island . This is one of our trips with the whole family. With its clear blue water you can clearly see the corals. What a great adventure for divers. Just a trivia, from the White Island , Camiguin's shape resembles that of a pregnant woman lying down.
